Drying beds – heavy machines are at work
Wastewater Sludge is storaged in big drying beds. Heavy machines are in action and the dried sludge is used in agriculture after certain time.
Again the the size is impressing. Germany has 9500 Wastewater Treatment Plants but certainly not that size for drying beds, we just do not have the space for that.

Our conference just finished. We had 350 participants and 50 companies. In Germany we discuss the following hot spots:
– Micro pollutions (medicin, cosmetics, cleaner, etc.) – does Germany needs a 4th stage of wastewater treatment? The Swiss goes that way. Germany did big researce in this way. The fesults are comming up in 2015. Lets see the results.
– Sewage sludge, do we still use it for agriculture fertilizer in 2020? Phosphorus removal technology is needed. Big discussion, the normal furtilizer are also not always clean, fair play for all fertilizers is needed.
